First In-House Legal Counsel — Ultralytics (London) — AGPL & Enterprise Licensing for YOLO AI
Who We Are
Ultralytics is on a mission to simplify AI for everyone. As creators of the world's leading Ultralytics YOLO models, we empower millions of developers, researchers, and companies to build state-of-the-art computer vision applications. Following our $30M Series A, we're expanding rapidly across global hubs in London, Madrid, and Shenzhen. We move fast, build boldly, and execute with purpose.
About the Role
We're hiring our first in-house lawyer. There's no legal team to join — you're building it. That means setting up how contracts get reviewed, collaborating with outside counsel across jurisdictions, and deciding what processes are actually worth having at a company this size.
Your first priority is the part of the business that generates revenue directly: the AGPL-3.0 and Enterprise dual-licensing model behind YOLO. Every company using our models commercially either open-sources their entire project under AGPL-3.0 or buys an Enterprise license.
What You'll Do
- Own the AGPL-3.0 and Enterprise licensing model end to end: detect violations, lead outreach and negotiation to convert unlicensed commercial use into paid Enterprise agreements
- Structure and negotiate enterprise license agreements directly with customers — scope, pricing, and terms
- Build the legal function: processes, outside counsel relationships, and playbooks
- Advise on IP, open-source compliance, and the legal side of a fast-scaling AI company
Who You Are
You've done open-source licensing work before — this is not a place to learn it on the job. You're obsessed with AI, comfortable in high-intensity environments, and ready to build from scratch.
Be the lawyer who builds the legal foundation of vision AI. Apply below.
