Localization Manager, Canada (FR/EN) — Own Airbnb's Canadian Experience
Airbnb started in 2007 with two hosts and three guests — and today 5+ million hosts have welcomed over 2 billion arrivals in nearly every country on Earth. Behind that global growth sits the Localization team, and they're looking for a Localization Manager to own the Canadian market experience.
The Opportunity
This isn't traditional translation management. Airbnb has turned localization into a core growth engine — including the Translation Engine, a specialized machine-translation service for user-generated content. As Localization Manager, you'll join the regional leadership core, shaping local strategy and adapting global product initiatives for Canadian users. You'll be the guardian of Airbnb's tone, style, and voice — the person who ensures every French and English touchpoint feels native.
A Typical Day
- Partner with the Country Manager, Marketing, Legal, Business Operations, Policy, and Comms to align strategy with Airbnb's goals in Canada
- Craft language strategies that deliver an authentic native experience — from product naming to creative copy
- Push product changes with central and local teams so the platform serves the market properly
- Research international user needs alongside the Consumer Insights team
- Lead localization quality initiatives and manage translation/QA vendors to a high bar
Who You Are
You're a linguistic and cultural expert with deep localization experience, ideally in a tech or marketplace environment. You love working across content, design, marketing, and engineering teams, you own strategy rather than waiting for it, and you genuinely enjoy fast-paced, multicultural environments. Fluency in French and English matters here — Canada's dual-language reality is the whole point of the role.
Why Airbnb
You'll work hard, laugh a lot, and brainstorm nonstop — the classic Airbnb energy — while shaping how one of the world's biggest travel platforms speaks to an entire country. If you want to influence the sharing economy at scale, this is the seat.
