About the Opportunity

N26, one of Europe's leading digital banks, is hiring a Backend Engineer for its Payments Team in the Everyday Banking domain. You'll work on the modern, high-volume systems that process every payment and card transaction — making banking easy, reliable, seamless and secure for millions of customers across Europe.

The Role & Impact

This is a hybrid role based in Berlin or Barcelona. You'll do discovery, design, development, testing, deployment and maintenance of software in a thriving engineering environment, collaborating with a team that loves knowledge sharing.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy and maintain software in the payments domain
• Manage project priorities and deliverables while sharing knowledge with the team
• Stay current with the latest technology trends and propose improvements during GSDD (Get Stuff Done Days)

Technical Stack & Requirements

• Experience with JVM languages and Spring Boot in large-scale production systems (Kotlin is a plus)
• Sound understanding of microservice architecture
• Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases, preferably Postgres
• Experience with modern cloud architecture, preferably AWS
• Strong bias for action, security awareness, and well-tested, well-documented code
