ClickHouse Engineer at PostHog — Fully Remote, Global
PostHog started as open-source product analytics out of Y Combinator's W20 cohort and has become the co-pilot platform for product development — including PostHog Code, a built-in data warehouse and AI-powered analysis. The team is fully remote, transparent and ships fast.
The mission
ClickHouse is the backbone of PostHog. Every product and every customer depends on it to ingest, store and query data. As PostHog grows toward trillions of captured events per year, it needs an engineer to automate, manage and maintain ClickHouse across one of the world's largest clusters.
What you will be doing
- Operating and scaling ClickHouse infrastructure, including node and instance-level performance tuning
- Building automation for provisioning and scaling clusters that hold over 100 PB of data
- Using Terraform, Ansible and Kubernetes to drive dynamic instance provisioning
- Experimenting with bleeding-edge ClickHouse features, including open-format backed tables
- Testing the latest cloud hardware — with a real budget to find the optimal setup
What you need
- Hands-on experience operating ClickHouse or similar columnar databases at serious scale
- Strong infrastructure engineering skills and automation instincts
- A performance-first mindset: latency, throughput and cost matter
- Comfort working autonomously in a remote, async-first team
Why this role stands out
Few engineers get to manage infrastructure of this scale with this much autonomy. Transparent salaries, no unnecessary process, and colleagues who genuinely care about craft.
