Airbnb's Tax Controversy team owns the company's global audit strategy — from setting the vision for tax disputes to coordinating and leading responses with tax authorities worldwide. This Senior Principal role sits at the center of that work, with a sharp focus on EMEA: high-profile tax disputes, litigation, and audit responses across the region.
The Difference You Will Make
You'll be responsible for helping the team deliver superior tax audit and litigation results across EMEA. That means mastering the company's facts, preparing responses to tax authority requests, participating directly in meetings with tax authorities, and helping shape audit and litigation strategy alongside the Dublin Tax team, outside advisors, and cross-functional partners.
A Typical Day
- Co-lead significant EMEA tax litigation cases — including administrative appeals and proceedings before EMEA tax authorities and courts — overseeing discovery, legal strategy, and key case milestones
- Act as the point of contact for EMEA-based external counsel, government officials, and regulators in ongoing disputes
- Advise on jurisdiction-specific litigation risks, privilege issues, and compliance in the EMEA tax environment
- Collaborate with US, EMEA, and global tax, legal, and policy teams to keep messaging consistent and strategically aligned
- Analyze trade-offs and implications of tax positions with the wider Tax group
What You Bring
Deep experience in tax controversy, audit, and litigation — ideally across EMEA jurisdictions — plus the judgment to coordinate complex, cross-functional responses. You thrive in high-stakes, high-visibility disputes and can translate tax complexity for business stakeholders.
