Mozilla — the non-profit-backed technology company behind Firefox — is hiring a Senior Staff Product Manager for its Browser Control Platform. With 225+ million people using Mozilla products each month, this is a rare senior role at the foundation of how the next generation of software — including AI tools — will drive the browser.
About the Role
This role owns the shared layer that lets other software act inside Firefox: the secure, reliable connection an outside tool or another team uses, and the building blocks they call to do it. It's a hands-on, technical role in a fast-moving, greenfield space — as much strategy as execution. The mandate: figure out what to go after, and in what order.
What You'll Do
- Own the shared foundation and its building blocks — making them reliable and secure for everyone who builds on Firefox
- Push the open WebDriver BiDi standard forward, and build Firefox-only advantages the standard won't cover
- Design the safety controls: let a person approve actions, see when software is acting for them, and take back control
- Define the strategy for major third-party AI assistants people already use
- Serve internal teams (Smart Window, New Products) and outside tools through one shared layer
You'll be measured on adoption across teams and tools, usage volume through the platform, and sustained reliability and security.
What You'll Bring
- You're a product-minded engineer or a very technical PM who can drive a technical product
- Developer-space experience, with the range to think about consumers and internal platforms
- Comfort setting strategy in ambiguity — owning a technical contract other teams depend on
- Strong instincts on security and trust; nice-to-haves include web standards, MCP, and browser automation
