AI Security Research & Red Team Engineer — Attack the Internet's Edge at Cloudflare

The Role & Impact

Cloudflare runs one of the world's largest networks, protecting millions of internet properties — and someone has to try to break it. This AI Security Research & Red Team Engineer role sits inside the Red Team, within the Security Threat Detection, Response and Emulation organization. You'll be at the forefront of protecting Cloudflare and its customers from malicious threats.

What You'll Do

• Drive security research, exercises and activities that emulate real-world attackers and attacks
• Identify security gaps in Cloudflare's products, platform and AI systems — then push fixes through
• Research emerging AI attack vectors: prompt injection, model abuse, data poisoning, agentic system attacks
• Partner with detection, response and engineering teams to turn findings into durable defenses

Who You Are

• Deep security background: offensive security, red teaming or vulnerability research
• Strong AI/ML literacy — you understand how LLMs and AI systems can be attacked, not just used
• Hands-on engineering skills to build exploits, tooling and proof-of-concepts
• An attacker's mindset paired with a builder's discipline — curiosity over bureaucracy
