Senior ML Engineer, Price Modeling — Reinforcement Learning at Airbnb (Remote US)
The Team
Airbnb's pricing guidance team is a diverse group of engineers, data scientists, and product managers dedicated to creating optimal pricing models for hosts. They work hand-in-hand with product engineers, designers, and cross-functional partners to make sure the models are effective, user-friendly, and genuinely move the needle for hosts' success.
The Role
As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer, you'll develop and refine machine learning models for pricing recommendations — with a particular focus on reinforcement learning techniques. Success is measured by model accuracy, effectiveness, and real impact on host success rates. You'll also be involved in project planning and prioritization, keeping the team's work aligned with Airbnb's broader strategic goals.
A Typical Day
- Collaborate with data scientists and PMs to understand project requirements and desired outcomes
- Develop, test, and refine ML models — especially reinforcement learning — for pricing recommendations
- Analyze model performance and make data-driven adjustments
- Present findings and progress to team members and stakeholders
- Work with product engineers and designers to integrate models into friendly tools hosts actually use
Your Expertise
- 5+ years in machine learning engineering
- Proven experience building and shipping ML models, ideally reinforcement learning
- Strong Python skills and familiarity with data analysis and visualization tools
- Excellent problem-solving, attention to detail, and clear communication
- Bonus: hospitality industry or pricing model experience
Location & Pay
This position is US-remote eligible (must live in a state where Airbnb has a registered entity). Pay range $196K–$227K, plus bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
