Staff Forward Deployed Engineer — Agentic SDLC at GitLab (Remote, EMEA)

The Role & Impact

GitLab's Forward Deployed Engineering team is a field-situated product engineering function focused on strategic customer outcomes, AI adoption and direct contributions to the product. This is not a traditional field engineering, solutions architecture or professional services role — you'll work closely with customers while maintaining the technical standards and contribution discipline of a product engineer.

What You'll Do

• Embed with strategic customers to drive AI adoption across their SDLC — from planning to production
• Build, prototype and ship solutions that feed directly back into GitLab's product roadmap
• Act as the technical bridge: customer needs in, product improvements out
• Work across GitLab's agentic SDLC vision — where AI agents help plan, code, review and ship software

Who You Are

• Staff-level engineering experience with strong product instincts
• Deep understanding of the software development lifecycle and where AI fits in it
• The ability to thrive in customer-facing situations without losing engineering rigor
• Experience with GitLab, CI/CD, or developer platforms is a strong plus
